Causes of fatty urine

Fatty urine or oily urine is one of the things that can indicate a health problem, and fatty urine can be the result of some temporary changes in the body, and the causes of fatty urine must be known to avoid any complications that may occur.

The following are the main causes of fatty urine:

1. Chyluria

Chylicuria is a condition that occurs when lymphatic fluid from the intestine leaks into the kidneys, and it occurs as a result of certain health problems, such as:

  • Parasitic infections.
  • neoplasms;
  • Kidney injuries.
  • genetic syndromes.
  • birth defects

In addition to fatty urine, urine may be white, such as: milk, due to the presence of fats and proteins in the lymph fluid.

A group of other symptoms can also appear when you have chyle, including:

  • Blood in the urine .
  • Pain during urination.
  • frequent urination.

2. Ketosis

When the body begins to burn fat instead of glucose for energy, it will enter a state called ketosis or ketosis in the body, where the production of ketone bodies increases in the body, and therefore it will appear in the urine, leading to a greasy appearance.

The symptoms of ketosis are not limited to fatty urine only, but also lead to other symptoms, most notably:

  • Bad breath.
  • feeling thirsty
  • muscle spasms;
  • headache;
  • digestion dysfunction.
  • feeling tired

Ketosis is one of the causes of fatty urine, which results from several health conditions, including:

  • Having diabetes.
  • digestion dysfunction.
  • eating disorders;
  • Persistent diarrhea or vomiting.
  • pregnancy.

The  keto diet,  which relies on eating a low amount of carbohydrates and a high amount of protein, has a role in the state of ketosis.

Ketosis may lead to complications in some people, especially people with diabetes. This condition may signal the onset of diabetic ketoacidosis , a serious condition that requires immediate treatment.

You should contact your doctor if any of the following symptoms appear in addition to fatty urine:

  • High blood sugar.
  • shortness of breath.
  • Excessive thirst.
  • stomach ache.
  • Nausea and vomiting.

3. Dehydration

One of the causes of fatty urine is dehydration, when the body loses fluid greatly, due to lack of drinking water or diarrhea and vomiting, it can become dehydrated, and this may affect the urine to become more concentrated, and can make other substances in the urine more visible, such as : Fats.

In addition to fatty urine, dehydration leads to a host of other symptoms, such as:

  • Dark-centred urine .
  • feeling lethargic
  • headache;
  • Vertigo.
  • Dry mouth.
  • lack of urination

4. Take some vitamins

One of the causes of fatty urine is eating some water-soluble vitamins that are not properly absorbed and excreted in the urine, such as Vitamin B complex and Vitamin C.

This may indicate that you are consuming more water-soluble vitamins than your body needs per day.

5. Pregnancy period

Pregnancy may lead to changes in urine, including fatty urine, as a result of symptoms that accompany pregnancy.

For example, a pregnant woman can develop nausea and vomiting, which leads to dehydration , at which point the urine becomes more concentrated and may become greasy.

If a woman has gestational diabetes, ketone bodies can appear in the urine, leading to fatty urine.
